Meet the Team
Marvin Smith, Chief Executive Officer
For the past 38 years, Marvin has been dedicated to helping Shuford Yarns grow. Starting his career on the ground floor where he spent 18 years leading the way in production and quality, he then spent the last 20 years in sales and management. Marvin’s passion and dedication to Shuford Yarns, the textile industry, and the local community, led him to take ownership of the company in 2005. Marvin prides Shuford Yarns to be dedicated to their customers, employees, and the community.
Marvin holds a BA of Business Administration from the University of Georgia. He also holds a position on the board of governors for the Southern Textile Association.
Khalid Majeed, Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer, Khalid is responsible for overseeing all of Shuford Yarns manufacturing. His focus is on quality, production, training, and safety. Khalid’s passion is to encourage his employees to develop into self-directed, efficient employees; the result, a world class manufacturer producing the world’s finest spun yarns.
Khalid has over twenty three years of experience in the textile industry with a focus in operations, production, quality, and employee development. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Textile Engineering from the National College of Textiles UET Pakistan.
Doug Yoder, Controller
As Controller of Shuford Yarns, Doug is responsible for the day to day finances and long term financial growth of Shuford Yarns. Before joining Shuford Yarns in 2006, Doug has held many executive level positions in various industries including, VP/CFO of SPN Global and CFO of Electric Service Group. Doug graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting in 1985 and has been a certified public accountant since 1991.
Renee Wilson, Yarn Sales Coordinator
As Yarn Sales Coordinator, Renee is at the center of Shuford’s customer service. Renee is in charge of taking care of all of our customer’s requests and making sure we deliver the Shuford service that our customers have come to respect.
Renee first joined Shuford Yarns in 1996 where she worked in manufacturing for two years before joining the sales team. Since then she has been a part of the Shuford Yarns sales team for over 18 years.
Randy Miller, Sales Manager
Randy is a 1986 graduate of North Carolina State University’s School of Textiles. Randy started his career in manufacturing where he was Dept. Manager for Delta Woodside Industries and then joined Shuford Yarns in 1989 as Plant manager. Since moving into sales in 1993, Randy is now Shuford Yarns’ Sales Manager. With over 22 years of sales experience, Randy is in charge of developing new business and helping grow Shuford Yarns’ long standing accounts.
Grant Smith, International Sales
Grant joined Shuford Yarns in 2014 after spending the first six years of his career at Coyote Logistics, a top third party transportation company. At Coyote, he held many positions including sales, pricing, and management.
At Shuford Yarns, Grant is responsible for developing and growing our International customers. Grant graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Consumer Economics.
Travis Nguyen, North American Sales
Travis joined Shuford Yarns in December of 2013 as our North American Sales representative. Travis is in charge of developing and growing our domestic customers. He previously worked at C.H. Robinson Worldwide, one of the largest transportation providers in the world. He focused on sales for much of his career, later moving on to manage the West Region Truckload Division of the Raleigh branch. Travis graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a Minor in Business Management.
